Professional Development
Bridging the Gap does not begin and end with the conference.
It reflects a wider commitment to supporting professionals to think more deeply about their work, to understand the complexity of the families they are working with, and to develop practice in a way that is both thoughtful and effective over time.
Alongside the conference, we offer a growing programme of training and development opportunities designed for those working across family law, mediation, psychology, safeguarding and related fields.
Why this matters
Much of the work within family systems focuses on decision-making at key moments, often under pressure and within structured processes. While those decisions are important, they do not sit in isolation. They are shaped by how behaviour is understood, how risk is interpreted and how professional judgement is applied in practice.
Without space to reflect on these processes, there is a risk that patterns are repeated rather than understood, and that well-intentioned interventions do not always lead to the outcomes that were hoped for.
Professional development within this space is therefore not simply about learning new models or techniques. It is about developing the ability to see more clearly, to think more critically and to respond in ways that take account of the wider context in which families are living.
Our Approach
The training offered through Bridging the Gap is grounded in the same principles that shape the conference itself.
It is interdisciplinary, bringing together perspectives from across family law, mediation, psychology and lived experience. It is reflective rather than prescriptive, recognising that complex situations do not lend themselves to simple answers. It is also grounded in real practice, focusing on the decisions professionals make every day and the impact those decisions have over time.
This is not about replacing existing frameworks or training pathways. It is about deepening understanding within them, supporting practitioners to recognise the nuance, the risk and the responsibility that sit within their role.

Training Opportunities

Useful Resources
This programme will continue to develop over time, shaped by the conversations, questions and challenges that emerge through Bridging the Gap.
The aim is not simply to provide training, but to support a more thoughtful and connected approach to practice, where professionals feel better equipped to navigate complexity and where the focus remains on improving outcomes for children and families.

This is an open invitation to continue the conversation beyond the conference.
Whether you are looking to deepen your understanding, reflect on your current practice or engage with new perspectives, these sessions are designed to support that process in a way that is grounded, relevant and practically meaningful.
